We know that finding a support group can be key to a family's success in parenting an adopted, foster or internationally hosted child. We want to make “finding a support group” easier for families, so as we find faith based support groups, we are adding them to this map of Minnesota and bordering communities.
Locate your town/home on this map. Locate a support group near you.
Contact the support group coordinator to ask additional questions & inquire about their exact gathering dates/times/locations/topics/format(s)/make-up.
If it’s a fit, attend a gathering.
After you’ve attended a gathering or two, determine if this group meets your needs. If so, you are now connected to a foster/adoption community. If not, please try another support group. Each group is different has it's own DNA - dates/times/locations/topics/format(s)/make-up.
Each support group has agreed to the following Statement of Faith, written by Every Child Every Church (a faith based coalition of support groups).
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only inerrant, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life,
in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection,
in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church
and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe salvation is the chief end of our ministry and comes about by grace from God
through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
We believe marriage and the family were established by God
in the permanent, exclusive union of one man and one woman as husband and wife.
We believe from the moment of conception until natural death every human life is sacred to God and
must be recognized and protected having the rights of a person and the inviolable right to life.
We believe that every human being has inherent value regardless of race, gender, and class differences.
We affirm there are other convictions and/or beliefs held in the Christian faith, but desire unity in the aforementioned statements encouraging one another in kindness and with respect and grace.
